Welcome to Discovery Elementary School
Principal's Welcome
The dedicated and nurturing staff at Discovery Elementary are committed to meeting all students' developmental needs, academic engagement, and instilling a love for learning. Our building supports students in young fives, kindergarten, first grade, and second grade. Discovery focuses on the young learner's unique needs and strives to create a fun, nurturing, and exciting learning environment.
Students at Discovery Elementary receive evidence-based instruction in English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science. We support our young learners and strive to meet each student's learning needs through Multi-tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS). In addition to our core instruction, Discovery encourages and values the creativity of our students. Incorporating the arts and technology is evident in daily practices in our classrooms and our esteemed programs.
The talented teachers and staff at Discovery provide a positive learning environment and school culture. We support students' social, emotional, and physical needs through our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Program (PBIS). Our PBIS program is evident in our building's daily practices and encourages students to be Kind, Safe, Cooperative, and Respectful.
We look forward to a school year full of new experiences, growth, discovery, and fun and are thankful for the Williamston Community's continued support!

Oral Health Assessment**
**We are sorry to share that due to circumstances beyond our control, the Oral Health Assessment is not going to be able to be held on Wednesday, March 12. As soon as we are able to plan another day with the Health Department, we will communicate that with you. At this time, we are looking at possibly a date in May.
You still have the option to take your child to your dental provider to have the assessment done. Please be sure the assesment form is completed.
**According to Michigan Law, if a student will not be five years old by September 1, 2025, but will be five years old by December 1, 2025, they may be enrolled in Kindergarten or Young Fives if the parent or legal guardian notifies the school district in writing that he or she intends to enroll their child in Kindergarten or Young Fives. Those with birthdates after June 1, will be prioritized for Young Fives first, if the parent chooses.
Students currently enrolled in Young Fives at Discovery Elementary do not need to re-enroll for kindergarten.
