Mental Health Resources

Welcome

When it comes to dealing with mental health questions or concerns for your child, you do not have to do it alone. The Mental Health Support Team at Discovery is here to support students, parents, and families as they navigate resources and supports that are available in the school setting as well as in the community.

School Social Worker

A School Social Worker (SSW) is a mental health professional who works with students, families, and school administration to help students succeed academically and socially. SSWs are trained to address a variety of issues, including mental health, behavioral concerns, and bullying. They also work to create a supportive environment for students to learn and grow. Social workers are also able to provide resources for families through the school or by connecting them to local agencies.

The school social worker is a fully licensed mental health professional and can provide the following social-emotional support to students at Discovery Elementary:

  • Individual Support
  • Group Support
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Connection to Local Resources
  • Classroom Presentation

School social workers do not provide ongoing therapy for children. If your child is in need of support beyond the scope of the school setting, the mental health support team at Discovery Elementary can make recommendations and provide resources for local agencies and providers. If you have questions about support, please contact a member of our team. We are here to help.
